Graceful

33.5 x 48.5 x 3 cm | Painting | 2019
Description
In recent years, one of the main themes is the house shaped human body. He is interested in the communication and radiance of these living beings. For his latest works, he uses basic house shape, which also give shape to his formatted canvases. The house as a basic cultural motif gives contour to the human texture, which reaches the individual character with minimally reduced means. These are personal tricks such as moles, freckles, or wounds, possibly traces of external influences, such as insect bite or sunburn.

Gábor Szenteleki lives and works in Budapest. His work is basically a reflection of the human existence and the various states of mind surrounding it. Typically, it deals with how extreme issues affecting our daily existence can be formulated in a traditional visual context. He is concerned with issues such as stress, vulnerability, life ability, but everyday social tensions are also present in his work, such as squabbling, guiding, or everyday existential struggles. These things are always encrypted in his paintings. He represents these emotions and life situations by personification of objects or surreal acts. In spite of the constant need for communication, his pictures are rarely acting, rather still-life-like, or static studio settings. He puts the motifs into relationships that refer to them as surreal reflections of everyday life.
