Dana Bartonickova was born in 1988 in Pardubice, Czech republic. She is currently living in Prague.
She is a contemporary visual artist, mostly in the area of sculpturing, but also painting, installation and classic photography.
Dana graduated from a Department of Sculpture of Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2018. While studing she received a scholarship at The Cooper Union in New York City in 2017, became part of few private collection, Gallery Collett collection and The Pudil Family Foundation, Kunsthalle in Prague.
Dana's art is a pure minimalist solution between structure and its inner existential and physical tension. She is loosely inspired by social phenomena and everyday situations. Her main focus is on larger works such as sculptures and paintings especially made from wax. Her work is often narrative in nature; the actual artefact itself does not require any long explanations. Objects or installations often involve the use of other media such as video or photography. Along with her many drawings and sketches, they create a diverse body of work with an inimitable signature style.
