Mirjam Siim was born in 1990 and raised in Tallinn, Estonia. She holds a degree from Tartu Art College, one of the best art universities in Estonia, and spent a year of exchange program at the University of Porto, Portugal. She has worked as an animator and print-maker. She currently resides in Porto working in illustration, (wall)painting, product design and jewelry. The artist’s richly patterned drawings and paintings are developed through inspiration from her urban life in Porto and her admiration of classical novelists such as Aldous Huxley and Lewis Carroll. Streets and bridges become repositories for expressive narratives. Her growing body of illustrations is replete with symbols, places, and narratives that oftentimes concern people of Portugal. Meanwhile, her portraiture deals with a prismatic spectrum of human emotions and interactions while maintaining a signature stylistic integrity.
